Thought for the Day

Federal "bail-outs" and "economic recovery packages" are like giving yourself a transfusion by drawing blood from your right arm - returning it to your left - and spilling some on the way across.

A Simple Question

Just read about a new "program" that's spreading in the schools: the Backpack Program. Very simply, backpacks of food are being handed out to nutritionally disadvantaged students on Fridays, so that they'll have something to eat over the weekend, and hopefully, return to class on Monday in shape to learn something.

It sounds really sweet. But, would someone please explain to me why this is necessary? We've been "fighting the War on Poverty" for 30 years. First it was soup kitchens, then a federal Welfare program, then School Lunch programs and W.I.C., and commodities give-aways in Food Banks - and after all of that, it's now necessary to send backpacks of food home so the kids will be fed over the weekend?

Am I the only one who sees something wrong with this picture? If all of the previously implemented programs were successful, this latest hand-out shouldn't be necessary. And if it is necessary - because all the previous programs have not solved the problem - why are we still pouring billions of tax dollars into a wasted effort?

My point is simply this: give a man a fish, and you feed him today. Teach him to fish, and he can feed himself the rest of his life. So why are our educational facilities now operating as Food Banks instead of educating kids to be productive citizens who can provide for themselves?

I have kids, and I care about kids. And yes, there are times when a helping hand is called for. But the Bible tells us that "you will always have the poor with you" - that means we will never "eradicate" poverty. There will always be those who will live off of society, rather than contributing to it. The more you give them, the less they will do for themselves, and the more they will demand from the rest of us.

And that's why, after 30 years of free hand-outs, the problem of Poverty is worse instead of better. The programs look good on paper. They sound good in speeches. And they make everyone feel all warm and fuzzy in the here and now.

But they don't fix the problem. In fact, they make the problem worse: the more tax dollars we pour down the drain of social programs, the more people take from the system instead of contributing to it. That increases the burden on the tax-payers who foot the bill, and eventually, more of them wind up on the dole.

Meanwhile, the politicians who have buried us under this burden continue the hand-outs to buy the votes they need to stay in office. And for every "free" dollar they award, they increase their control over the person receiving it.

Isn't it time - way past time! - to stop the senseless financial hemorrhaging caused by failed "social engineering" programs?

The Bible says "he who will not work, let him also not eat." If you have a neighbor in need of help, then by all means, help! But we need to lose this idea that there should be an organization or "program" to meet every need, for every person, so they don't have to provide for themselves. The Nanny-State mentality is killing our country and if we don't shake lose from it, one day soon all of us will be wards of the State, working for the State, fed by the State - and owned by the State.

Is that the America you want to live in? Is that the America you want your kids and grandkids to inherit from us?

Throwing Rocks

The news has been full of it (ad nauseum): our Congress finds it unacceptable that the newly-instituted democratic government of Iraq hasn't met the expectations of Pelosi and Reid.

The Iraqi people have not had the benefit of 230 years of freedom, elections, and Constitutional Rights and protections. Democracy is completely uncharted territory for them. And their society is not like ours, so the Iraqi government will never be like ours. And meanwhile, there's that aggravating little problem of Islamic extremists blowing up their buildings and killing their citizens in the streets.

Our current, sitting Congress, on the other hand, led oh, so very capably by said Pelosi and Reid, has had the benefits of those blessings, and still has not been able to get their job done. They couldn't bring themselves to fund our troops on the battlefield... they're not securing our borders... in short, they can't represent our wishes because they're too busy spending our tax dollars pursuing their own.

But they have managed to re-name twelve Post Offices.

Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks.

Q & A for our "leaders"

* Mr. Bush: In your Oath of Office, Sir, you swore to protect and defend this nation – and you have everything you need to secure our borders now, without any new legislation whatsoever. Your refusal to do so, unless you are given the Amnesty legislation you demand, amounts to nothing more than blackmailing the American people. Aren't you treading perilously close to open Treason, Sir?

* Mr. Bush: Just because American citizens are not willing to allow you to hand our homeland over to foreign nationals does not make us “racist” or “bigoted”. Your job is to protect the interests of American citizens – not Mexican citizens. Have you forgotten who pays your salary, Sir?

* Sen. Trent Lott: You say that Talk Radio “runs America” and that you need to “deal with that”. In a nation widely-dominated by Liberal media, Talk Radio gives Conservative Americans an outlet for their opinions. Unlike the Liberal media, Conservative talk show hosts don’t tell us how we should think… we tell them what we think. Why does that bother you, Sir? Do you recall the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution? Nothing in that Amendment limits the Right of Freedom of Speech only to Liberals – or only to those who support the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill. And exactly how would you “deal with it”, Senator? Would you shut down conservative programs and stations the way Communist Dictator Hugo Chavez shut down dissenting television stations in Venezuela? Have you forgotten where you live, Sir?

* Mr. President: Didn’t you take an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution? You are there to govern “by the consent of the People”. Over 70% of the American Electorate have clearly shown they do not want the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill signed into law. Why are you trying to force legislation upon us without our consent? Didn't your Oath of Office mean anything to you?

* Sen. Harry Reid: You openly call illegal immigrants “undocumented Americans”. Where in our Declaration of Independence, our Constitution, or our Bill of Rights does it say that everyone who crosses our border is an American? You are biting the hand that feeds you, Senator, and you owe the American people an abject apology.

* Sen. Hillary Clinton: You want to take the profits from private American businesses and use them as you see fit. This is the United States of America - not Russia, or Cuba, or Venezuela. Have you forgotten where you live, Senator? Have you forgotten your Oath of Office?

I Demand!

If there was ever a time when we truly needed to see "diversity", it's now - because for 40 years, the American landscape has been thoroughly dominated by Liberalism. So the time has come for "achieving a balance".

For the college scholarships I wasn't awarded, because I am Caucasian rather than one of the "underprivileged" ethnic groups - I demand restitution!

For all the jobs I didn't get, because Affirmative Action awarded them to someone less qualified than me - I demand restitution!

For all of my tax dollars that were wasted on "rehabilitating" criminals who violated the Law again - I demand restitution!

For all of the times that I have been offended by insulting and defamatory remarks about my Caucasian race, my America, and my Christian religion - I demand restitution! (I want each of the offending parties fired, and a public apology made... and no, going into Rehab won't cut it.)

For all of my tax dollars that were wasted in welfare payments to people who didn't "better themselves", but remained on the dole out of laziness - I demand restitution!

For all of my tax dollars that were spent on "free" benefits for undeserving illegal aliens, who have no right to even be here - I demand restitution!

For all of the tax-dollars that would have been contributed to our national solvency by the aborted babies who weren't allowed to grow up, go to work, and pay taxes - I demand restitution!

For all of the tax-dollars taken from me by force and pilfered and squandered by crooked, self-serving politicians - I demand restitution!

For every white American who has ever been attacked, robbed, beaten, raped or murdered by a member of a racial minority - I demand restitution!

I further demand that Liberals practice what they preach - instead of applying a double-standard - or sit down, and shut up!

I demand to see the Justice Liberals have promised us for years applied to all Americans - and not just their selected "Victim of the Month".

I demand to see that "peaceful society" they've been promising us - the one all of their progressive ideas and social programs were supposed to create - instead of the constant division and unrest they deliberately provoke.

They have had 40 years to show us what they've got - and all they've done is poison America. So I demand our America back! I demand a return to America's founding principles - because we have conclusive proof that Liberalism doesn't work.

What IS our policy???

We're bombarded these days by politicians, activists and wanna-be presidents telling us what our national policy should be in regard to almost everything. It's their #1 favorite "buzz word". And watching them in action, it appears that the Liberals' policy is "to obstruct the government at every opportunity, even if it destroys the nation!"
To eliminate all of the wrangling, let's adopt a simple "blanket" policy for dealing with our enemies - be they foreign terrorists, aggressive neighbors - or lowest-of-the-low, turncoats here at home.
"You ask, what is our policy? I can say: It is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us; to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark, lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy.
You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: It is victory, victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival."
- Winston Churchill

Choose NOW!

Intelligence experts tell us that Muslims believe they must offer an enemy the opportunity to convert to Islam before attacking them. And repeatedly terrorists have released video tapes doing just that: urging us to convert - just before they staged another attack.

This week, another video tape was released, again urging "all Americans to convert to Islam today, because today may be the last chance" to do so. They called this an "invitation" but it's really just an Ultimatum: convert or die.

Nuts to them, and the horses they rode in on!

American colonists fought long and hard to establish this country, and thanks to their efforts, our U.S. Constitution guarantees us the Right to Freedom of Worship. No Muslim has the right to tell us we must convert to anything.

It's time for all Americans to "choose whom they will serve" because these people don't care about what we want or believe. They intend to conquer or destroy us. So our leaders - Republican and Democrat - need to quit "playing politics" and get serious about protecting and defending America.

The Muslims call it Jihad - Holy War. That's because it is a Religious War to them, and that means we are in a religious war, whether we wanted to be or not. They're not going to compromise, or make concessions, or even talk (unless it serves their purposes). And victory for them means annihilation for us. So you'd better choose now, whose side you're on. This time around, there won't be a fence to sit on.
